CX Today’s Rhys Fisher published an analysis on October 21, 2026 of Salesforce’s agreement to buy Braze for a reported $5.66 billion, which follows its acquisition of Contentful earlier in 2026.

Factual points

  • Braze provides real-time, cross-channel messaging and AI decisioning across email, SMS, WhatsApp, mobile apps and the web.
  • Its Canvas journey builder is known for ease of use; users have raised concerns about reporting, data integrations and costs that grow with deployments.
  • Salesforce already offers Data 360, the Agentforce AI agent platform and its Customer 360 vision.

The analyst’s view

Liz Miller, VP and principal analyst at Constellation Research, says Salesforce needed an execution engine: “This is Salesforce really being acutely aware that it needed an engine by which it could drive that deployment.” She calls it a “supercharge moment” and tells customers: “hold tight. Don’t freak out right now.”

The author’s opinion

The article argues the deal fills a practical execution gap and that Salesforce customers may face migration and integration costs while Braze customers may worry about price, complexity and losing the product experience they valued. Success depends on integrating Braze without adding complexity and preserving its speed and usability.

Our read

Everything here is expectation. Until the deal closes and a roadmap exists, plan with options open.
