In 60 seconds

  • Retailers should upload the full sellable catalog to Microsoft Merchant Center, not just SKUs in paid campaigns, with accurate titles, GTIN or MPN, price, availability and category.
  • Feeds should refresh at least daily, and more often for fast-moving inventory or pricing.
  • UCP commerce fields to add include a store-wide return policy, customer support settings, a unique merchant_item_id and consumer notice fields where relevant.
  • Microsoft launched Copilot Checkout and Brand Agents on January 8, 2026, with merchants remaining the merchant of record.

PPC Land’s October 6, 2026 summary of Microsoft Advertising’s monthly product newsletter includes a product catalog checklist for retailers.

The checklist

  • Upload the full sellable catalog to Microsoft Merchant Center, not just SKUs in paid campaigns.
  • Include accurate titles, descriptions, GTIN or MPN, price, availability and category for each product.
  • Refresh feeds at least daily, and more often for fast-moving inventory or pricing.
  • Add Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) fields: a store-wide return policy, customer support settings, a unique merchant_item_id per product and consumer_notice_type and consumer_notice_message where relevant.

Context

Microsoft launched Copilot Checkout and Brand Agents on January 8, 2026, with merchants remaining the merchant of record. According to MediaPost, UCP feeds became generally available in the US on April 21, with more than 500,000 merchants in Copilot Checkout. A webinar on agentic commerce was scheduled for October 8. An Originality.ai scan in May found 26 public UCP implementations across more than 3 million sites; it measured public profiles, not Merchant Center feeds.

Our read

The checklist is basic data hygiene that also supports agent shopping. The newsletter’s performance claims come without sample sizes, so treat them as promotion.
