On February 24, 2026, Profound, a company that sells software for tracking how brands appear in AI answers, announced a $96 million Series C round led by Lightspeed, at a valuation of $1 billion.
The company’s figures
- Profound says it has raised more than $155 million in total.
- It says more than 700 enterprises use its platform, including more than 10% of the Fortune 500.
- James Cadwallader is its chief executive.
These are the company’s own figures from its announcement.
Why it matters
A $1 billion valuation for a category that barely existed two years earlier was a signal that investors saw AI-answer visibility as its own market, not a feature of SEO tools. It was followed within months by suites buying or building the same capability (Sitecore and Scrunch, Adobe and Semrush, HubSpot AEO).
What happened next
Later in 2026 Sitecore announced it was acquiring Scrunch, a competitor, and Adobe completed its Semrush acquisition (see those entries).
