The idea
A customer data platform has usually been a separate system with its own copy of customer data. CustomerLake keeps the data in the company’s own lakehouse and puts the CDP on top of it.
Why it matters
It moves a core marketing system onto the data platform that data teams already govern, which reduces copies of customer data and puts consent and deletion rules in one place. It also shifts work from marketers to data engineers.
What happened next
CustomerLake was in private preview; general availability and final pricing had not been announced in the sources we reviewed.
