In 60 seconds

  • Zendesk's October 2026 release notes list voice AI agents as generally available for voice customers.
  • They offer native end-to-end phone automation, real-time conversations, handoff to human agents, transcripts, summaries, recordings and 53 languages.
  • An "Ask for details" block lets agents collect structured information like a form; embedded templates allow verbatim messages and deterministic logic.
  • Sensitive data can now be redacted from AI agent tickets, manually or by suggestion.

Zendesk’s release notes for October 2026 describe several changes to its AI agents.

Voice AI agents (generally available)

Voice AI agents are generally available for Zendesk voice customers. The notes describe “native end-to-end phone automation with real-time conversations, seamless handoff to human agents, transcripts, summaries, recordings, and support for 53 languages.”

Other items

  • Embedded templates for email AI agents with agentic capabilities: admins can send verbatim messages and use deterministic conditional or integration logic inside generative procedures.
  • “Ask for details” block in the dialogue builder: agents collect structured information during a conversation, like a configurable data collection form with admin-defined fields.
  • Redaction in AI agent tickets: sensitive information can be redacted manually, and redaction suggestions now work on AI agent conversations.
  • Segments in procedures for different customer routing paths, welcome replies for pre-conversation logic, knowledge replies that search external sources, and a migration tool for Essential AI agents.

Our read

A voice agent that can hand over to a person, and that leaves a transcript and recording, is the version regulated teams can actually adopt. The embedded templates and redaction address two other worries: that generative answers will improvise on legal wording and that sensitive data will end up in tickets. The notes give no resolution rates or prices, so run a pilot on one call type and compare it with your current outcomes.
