Salesforce and Listen Labs announced a definitive agreement on September 29, 2026, under which Salesforce would acquire the AI customer research company, according to MarTech’s report of September 30. We read only that one source, so every detail here is attributed to it.

What Listen Labs does

  • It runs the research process with AI: designing studies, recruiting participants, conducting interviews and analyzing what people say.
  • MarTech reports access to a network of more than 50 million participants and interviews in more than 120 languages.
  • It also builds “digital twins,” AI simulations that predict how customers will behave without more human testing.

The terms

Salesforce did not disclose a price; MarTech says multiple outlets reported about $2 billion. Closing is expected in Salesforce’s fiscal fourth quarter of 2027, subject to regulatory approval and customary conditions. Salesforce’s rationale is to bring qualitative research into its CRM ecosystem, complementing Marketing Cloud and Service Cloud and giving AI agents more context, with insights connected to customer data already in the platform. Listen Labs founder Alfred Wahlforss, who remains chief executive, said what began as an AI interviewer is now a full platform for understanding customers that finds the right people, interviews them, analyzes what they say and simulates how they will behave.

Our read

Salesforce has bought a series of data and context companies in the past year (Informatica in 2025, Contentful in 2026), and this is the same logic applied to research: agents act better with more context about customers. Two cautions. Simulations of customers, “digital twins,” are models, and their predictions should be checked against real behavior before they steer spending. And research participants gave answers for a study; marketers should check what consent covers before interview data is combined with CRM records.
