The migration
More than 14,000 apps and bots have registered for migration to Devvit, Reddit’s developer platform. Reddit’s incentives total a $1 million migration programme, $1,000 per eligible migrated app and up to $167,000 per app through Reddit Developer Funds. Devvit supports TypeScript only; a Reddit administrator said Python is not on the roadmap.
Context
In Q2 2026 Reddit reported other revenue (mostly licensing) of $43 million, up 24% year on year, against $762 million from advertising. A moderator cited in the newsletter reported 551,703 moderation actions over six months.
Our read
If a tool you use scrapes or reads Reddit through the public API, ask the vendor now how it will keep working and at what price. Licensed access is the likely route for large buyers, and smaller teams may lose coverage.
