OpenAI launched ChatGPT Work on July 9, 2026, according to BNN Bloomberg. The company describes it as an agent designed to automate workplace tasks across applications and files.

What it does

  • Creates finished documents, spreadsheets, presentations, reports and websites.
  • Gathers context from apps and workflows and executes multi-step tasks on its own. It is powered by GPT-5.6, per the report.
  • Includes a new ChatGPT desktop application and a hosted-websites feature so people can build and share sites from ChatGPT Work.

Availability

It launched on web and mobile, starting with Pro, Enterprise and Edu users, and expanding to Plus and Business users within days. Pricing was not stated. The report places it after Anthropic’s Claude Cowork, which has legal, sales and marketing plug-ins, and Microsoft’s Copilot Cowork, and notes that these launches raised concern about disruption to software and professional services.

Our read

For marketing teams the practical shift is who produces the first draft of a report, a deck or a landing page. The work still needs review: an agent that builds a website or a presentation can publish an error faster than a person can. Before using it, decide what data connectors it may reach, who approves anything customer-facing, and where hosted sites live. We have not tested the product.
