  • AEO is included in Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise, or costs $50 a month standalone.
  • The Prospecting Agent costs $1 per recommended lead (28-day trial); the Customer Agent costs $0.50 per resolution.
  • HubSpot says its customers' organic traffic fell 27% year over year while AI referral traffic tripled.

Impact Layer

What changed
HubSpot launched AEO visibility tracking, Smart Deal Progression, a Prospecting Agent and a Customer Agent, with outcome-based prices for the agents, as part of 100+ updates.
Why it matters
Outcome-based agent pricing and built-in AI-visibility tracking move both ideas into the mainstream mid-market stack, where they can be bought without a separate vendor.
Who is affected
Small and mid-sized marketing and sales teams on HubSpot, and SEO teams who now have to measure visibility in AI answers.
Martech stack area
CRM, Marketing Automation, AI, SEO & Search
Stack impact
AEO reporting can sit in the same system as CRM data, which may reduce the need for a standalone AI-visibility tool for smaller teams.
Business impact
Moderate Per-outcome pricing makes costs variable; model expected volumes before switching.

What to watch
How HubSpot AEO compares with specialist tools, whether outcome-based pricing spreads to other vendors, and independent results for the agents.

On April 14, 2026, HubSpot used its Spring 2026 Spotlight to launch HubSpot AEO and a set of AI agents, as part of more than 100 updates. Yamini Rangan, HubSpot’s chief executive, and Duncan Lennox, its chief product and technology officer, were the executives named in the announcement.

HubSpot AEO

AEO stands for answer engine optimization. HubSpot’s version tracks how often and how a brand appears in answers from ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. The prompts it uses to test those assistants are drawn from a company’s own CRM data, so they reflect questions that customers actually ask. It is included in Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise, and sold on its own for $50 a month.

Agents priced by outcome

  • Prospecting Agent: a 28-day trial, then $1 for each recommended lead.
  • Customer Agent: $0.50 per resolution. HubSpot reports that it resolved 50% more tickets, 29% faster, with about 70% resolved independently.
  • Smart Deal Progression: also launched in the same release.

The resolution figures are HubSpot’s own.

The traffic claim

HubSpot says organic traffic for its customers fell 27% year over year, while traffic referred from AI tools tripled. That is data from HubSpot’s own customer base, not a market-wide measure, but it is one of the clearer signals from a vendor with a large customer sample that AI answers are changing where visits come from.

Our read

Two things stand out. First, pricing the work an agent completes, rather than the seat, makes budgeting a forecasting problem: a busy quarter costs more. Teams should model volumes before committing. Second, a $50-a-month tracker puts basic AI-visibility measurement within reach of small teams, which will test whether specialist vendors in the category can justify enterprise prices on analysis and depth.
