Twilio describes Segment as a customer data platform that lets companies collect, clean and activate customer data in any tool to create context-driven experiences. Twilio agreed to acquire Segment on October 12, 2020 (see the timeline entry).

What Twilio says it does

  • Connections: a customer data pipeline that collects first-party data from touchpoints and routes it to data warehouses or more than 550 destinations.
  • Unify: builds unified customer profiles.
  • Engage: orchestrates real-time customer journeys.
  • Data activation: uses warehouse data to improve experiences.

Integrations and pricing

Twilio says the platform supports more than 750 integrations. The page links to pricing without stating tiers or a free plan. Segment’s website has been merged into Twilio’s, and Twilio says the products, documentation and resources are unchanged.
