Privacy policy

Working draft. This policy describes what the site does today. It has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer and should be before it is relied on.

What we collect

  • Newsletter sign-ups: your email address, the newsletters you choose, the page you signed up from, the status of your subscription, and the dates of sign-up, confirmation and unsubscription. We do not store your IP address with your subscription.
  • My Stack and Stack Builder: the choices you make are sent to calculate a result and are not stored on our servers. My Stack saves your choices in your own browser (local storage), and you can clear them with the “Clear my stack” button.
  • Analytics: we use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are read. It sets cookies in your browser and sends information about your visit (the pages you view, your approximate location, browser and device) to Google. We do not use it to identify you. Visits by our own editors are not counted.
  • Server logs: our web host records technical information about requests, such as IP address and browser, to run and secure the service. Ask the host for its retention terms.

What we do not do

  • We do not run third-party advertising scripts, and advertising on the site is simple images and links.
  • We do not sell your email address.

Confirming and unsubscribing

We email you a confirmation link before anyone is added to a newsletter. Each email will include a way to unsubscribe.

Your rights

You can ask us to export or erase the personal data we hold about you. Contact details for requests will be listed on this page before newsletters are sent.

Changes

We will update this page when what we collect changes.
